Shirley Lane

WASHINGTON – Shirley W. Lane, 93, of Washington, passed away Friday, February 17, 2023, at Washington Senior Living.

She was born September 19, 1929, in Peoria, to Ted and Frances (Baker) Fehr. Shirley married Lloyd Lane on December 31, 1949, in Peoria. He preceded her in death on October 20, 2016.

Surviving are her son, Dennis (Cathy) Lane of East Peoria; one grandson, David (Beth) Lane of Niantic, Ill.; one great granddaughter, Riley Lane; one step-sister, Linda Dystrup of The Villages, Fla.; and one sister-in-law, Jo Weyhrich.

Shirley ran Best Dressed Cakes in Town in Morton with her best friend, Dottie Pfanz, for 28 years. She sewed baby dresses for Threads of Love for many years. Shirley loved her many pets, her gardens and her neighbors.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2023, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Pastor Jonathan Farrell and Pastor Tim Bertsche officiating. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Following the service, burial of both Lloyd and Shirley’s cremated remains will at Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
