Shirley Rellihan

MORTON – Shirley Joan Rellihan, 83, of Morton, passed away on August 15, 2022, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton, where she had been living since February 2022.

She was born on December 24, 1938, at home in Carrier Mills, Ill., to Clarence and Margaret (McCutcheon) Milburn. She married John “Jack” Rellihan, Jr., on August 11, 1962, at St. Patrick’s Church in Peoria. He survives.

Also surviving are her son, Michael (Kristen) Rellihan; two terrific grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Roy Eugene Milburn.

Shirley graduated from EPCH in 1956. She began teaching with an Illinois Teaching Certificate while attending summer school at Bradley University. Shirley received her Bachelor’s degree in December 1972 and was hired by Morton School District 709. She taught 3^rd grade at Jefferson Elementary School and then later at Lincoln Elementary School, retiring in June 2002. She also received her Master’s degree from Bradley University in 1988, graduating with honors.

Shirley enjoyed her vacations spent in Naples, Fla., Door County, Wis., and especially the times spent at Hilton Head, S.C.

Cremation rites will be accorded. A private family service will be held with burial at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Runner’s Association, Peoria Area Food Bank or Peoria Rescue Ministries.
