Solomon O. "Sol" Rassi

MORTON – Solomon O. “Sol” Rassi, 97, of Morton, passed from this earth and into the arms of Jesus on July 24, 2022, at his home. He was surrounded by loved ones.

He was born on May 9, 1925, to Carl & Mary (Muselman) Rassi. He married Alberta Somerhalder in Burlington, Okla., on May 19, 1946. She preceded him in death on Feb. 3, 1989. Later that year he married Sharilyn Schwenk in Morton.

Surviving are his wife, Sharilyn Rassi; children, Tim (Ginnie) Rassi, Cindy (Ted Sr) Witzig & Teresa (Arlen) Cunningham; grandchildren, Ted Jr (Donna) Witzig, Angi (Brent) Rassi-Trinacty, Wendy (Todd) Sauder, Brian Rassi, Andy (Erin) Witzig, and Craig (Mandy) Rassi; and 20 great-grandchildren.

Sol was born on a farm south of Morton, attending nearby Prairie Creek School. He worked hard all of his life at various jobs, still mowing lawns at age 96.

Sol was the 17th of 18 children and the last survivor of his siblings; Elizabeth, David, Anna Freidinger, Lena Steiner, Emil, Martha Wuthrich, Marie Pfaffmann, Marg Romersberger, Til Legel, Arnold, Esther, Carl Jr, Nom Kaufman, Clara Huber, Eli, Lee Warren & Bob. He was also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Jeff Witzig.

Sol will be remembered for his love of the Lord Jesus Christ, his love of family and church family. Sol loved God’s Word and read through the Bible each year.

He was a member of Morton Apostolic Christian Church and Kennel Lake Sportsman’s Club.

A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 28, 2022, at Morton Apostolic Christian Church, with church ministers officiating. Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2022, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Further visitation will be held from 9 to 9:45 a.m. at the church on Thursday, prior to the service. Sol’s service will be live streamed on Thursday, July 28, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. via the church website at https://www.mortonacchurch.org/. Burial will be at Morton Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery.
