SUE A. SIMPSON
MORTON - Sue A. Simpson, 77, of Morton, passed away Fri., June 1, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Sue was born April 26, 1941, in Bellflower, Calif., to Henry R. and Agnes B. (Wallace) Horstman. She married Richard L. Simpson on Feb. 19, 1966 in Peoria.
Surviving are her husband, Richard of Morton; two daughters, Jennifer (Allen) Fort and Alison (J.D.) Knight, both of Morton; five grandchildren, Brock and Brenna Fort, and Gabe, Cooper, and Olivia Knight. She is also survived by one brother, Robert Horstman of Washington; one sister, Mary Craven of Metamora; and one sister-in-law, Martha Herberger.
Sue was preceded in death by three brothers, Larry, Jr., and Ricky Horstman; and three sisters, Marjorie Bowden, Frances Gilles, and Mick Sleight.
Sue graduated from Richwoods High School in Peoria in 1960, and later graduated from Mid-State College in 1962. In her earlier years, Sue worked in Peoria as a typist at Georgetown Insurance. Until 1969, she worked at Great Central Insurance before becoming a fulltime, dedicated homemaker who took great pride in caring for family. After raising her children, she worked in the Dietary Department at A.C. Restmor in Morton from 1990 to 1998.
She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and always made her family the biggest priority in her life. Sue always looked forward to filling Easter eggs each year for the annual Lions Club Easter egg hunt.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wed. June 6, 2018, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Rev. Dwight Winnett officiating. Visitation will also be held at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m., Tues. June 5 and also from 9 to 9:45 a.m. prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
Memorial donations may be made to Morton Lions Club.
