V. Darlene Brewer

Hanna City – V. Darlene Brewer, 87, of Oak Ridge, Tenn., formerly of Hanna City, Ill., passed away peacefully with family by her side on Thursday May 13, 2021, in Oak Ridge, Tenn. 

She was born June 4, 1933, in Kell, Ill. to Clifford and Mary (Smith) Phelps. Darlene married E. Wayne Brewer on May 27, 1983, in Peoria.  He preceded her in death on February 6, 2015.  She is also preceded by her son, Bill Ray; her daughter, Vickie Robinson; three sisters and one brother.

Darlene is survived by daughters, Barbara Green of Powell, Tenn. and Beverly Dingledine of Clinton, Tenn.; sons, Harold (Pat) Brewer and Rick (Bonnie) Brewer, both of Morton; one son-in-law, Scott Robinson of Morton; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and sister, Lois Toler of Salem.

Darlene had a long career as an optician in the Peoria area. She loved Jesus and was a member of Northwest Church of Christ in Peoria. Darlene loved singing and was an avid book reader. Her kindness and loving disposition was treasured by all who knew her.

Darlene’s funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 18, 2021, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton, with Pastor David Spillman officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to service at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Ridge Cemetery in Mapleton, Ill.

Memorial may be made to the Alzheimer Association.
