MORTON - Violette E. Funk, 97, of Morton, passed away Tues., June 19, 2018 at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
Violette was born Nov. 25, 1920, in Gridley, Ill., to William and Oliva (Yergler) Gramm.
She married Wilbert Funk on April 21, 1946 in Gridley. He preceded her in death on Feb. 14, 1999. Violette was also preceded in death by one daughter, Marian Funk; two grandsons, Daniel and Calvin; and two brothers, Art and Ed.
Surviving are two sons, William (Valerie) Funk of Gridley, and Glen (Sally) Funk of Wichita, Kan.; three daughters, Sherrill "Sherry" (Don) Smith of Thayer, Ill., Gail (Clarence) Williams of Round Lake Beach, Ill., and Jane (Richard) Atuk of Anchorage, Alaska; 17 grandchildren, and 33 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by one sister, Sherrill (Ken) Schafer of Peoria Heights; one brother, John (Mary) Gramm of Gridley; and sisters-in-law, Lucille Gramm of Eureka, Ill., Mary Gramm of Leo, Ind., and Beulah Funk of Morton.
In her earlier years, Violette worked as a secretary. She then raised her family on the farm in Gridley. She worked several years as a teacher's aide in Normal, Ill, and later was the Activity Director at Apostolic Christian Timber Ridge in Morton, currently known as Apostolic Christian LifePoints. After retiring, she continued to be actively involved in the community.
Violette had many hobbies and interests, including music, crafts, needlework, bird watching, reading, and Bible study. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Fri., June 22, 2018, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Violette was a member of Apostolic Christian Church in Morton where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Sat., June 23, with a visitation held prior to the service from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Services will be officiated by ministers of the church. A graveside service will take place at Gridley Cemetery in Gridley, IL at 1:30 on Saturday.
