Virginia "Ginger" Becella
MORTON -Virginia "Ginger" Becella, 71, of Morton, passed away Thurs., Jan. 3, 2019, at Apostolic Christian Restmor in Morton.
Ginger was born March 27, 1947 in Peoria. She married Bill Becella on Aug. 15, 1970, in East Peoria. He survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Angela Becella of Germantown Hills; one son, Tony (Stefanie) Becella of East Peoria; four sisters, Marijean (Ken) Brown of Ga., Marilyn Hermann of Ill., Lora "Corky" (Jim) Hinkle of Ill., and Patty (Bob) Diveley of Fla.; one brother, Scott Lowes of Ga.; 16 nieces and nephews; two half-brothers, Tom Harkless and Dan Harkless; and one half-sister, Sally Boers.
Ginger was preceded in death by one nephew, Jacob Lowes; two brothers-in-law, Rich Hermann and Tom Becella; and one sister-in-law, Mary Horton.
Ginger graduated from Peoria Central High School in 1966. She worked in the banking industry for several years before and after raising her children.
Ginger attended Zion Evangelical United Methodist Church, where she was involved in Sunday school classes, enjoyed helping prepare meals and was involved in many church activities.
She was a very loving person who spent many years caring for elderly friends. Ginger enjoyed spending time cooking for her family, taking various fishing trips, mowing the lawn, and pulling dreaded weeds; but most of all she loved to spend time with her family.
Cremation rites have been accorded.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., Monday, January 7, 2019, followed by a 6 p.m. Celebration of Life service at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Pastor Josh Gutteridge will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at Fondulac Cemetery in East Peoria.
Memorials may be made to Zion Evangelical United Methodist Church Cemetery Trust, or to Central IL Memorial Kidney Fund.
