WASHINGTON - Virginia L. Shoger, 95, of Washington, passed away Tue., July 10, 2018 at Washington Christian Village.
Virginia was born Dec. 19, 1922, in Toledo, Ohio, to Blenn and Clara Belle (DeArmond) Huff. She married John Moss on Jan. 12, 1941 in Peoria. He preceded her in death on March 19, 1975. On Oct. 27, 1973, she married Albert Shoger, who preceded her in death on Jan. 13, 1996. She was also preceded in death by her son, Daniel Moss, in 1946 and also by a daughter, Jeanne (Moss) Smith in 2001.
Surviving are two daughters, Diana (Willis) Mount of Pekin, and Kathy (Bob) Klein of East Peoria; and one son, Kevin Moss of Peoria. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Mark (Christine) Mount of Washington, Michelle (Mathew) Eckberg of East Peoria, Jennifer (Eric) Pergler of Washington, and Steven (Pablina) Klein of Hollywood, Fla.; and seven great-grandchildren, Alexis Mount and Benjamin Mount, both of Washington, Ill.; Allison Eckberg and Tyler Eckberg, both of East Peoria; Khloe Pergler, Kailey Pergler, and Kaden Pergler, all of Washington, Ill.
Virginia was a bookkeeper working at Getz Fire Equipment and also for AERCO gas and welding company, both in Peoria. She was also a volunteer in the mail room at Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
Virginia had a passion for square dancing and was a member of the Varsoviennes. She enjoyed playing the organ and crafting. She took great pride in caring for her yard and enjoyed planting flowers. Virginia especially loved spending time with her dogs, Buffy and Chelsea.

Virginia was a member of Crossroads United Methodist Church in Washington, where a visitation will be held from 9 to 10:45 a.m. on Sat., July 14, 2018. A funeral service will follow at 11 a.m., with Pastor Dan Doty officiating. A graveside service will also be held on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at Roberts Cemetery in Morton.
