Wanda Johansen

MORTON – Wanda M. Johansen, 91, of Morton, passed away on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Reflections Memory Care in Morton.

She was born on March 8, 1930, in Deer Creek, Ill., to David and Marcella (Rich) Hager. She married Norman Johansen in Washington, Ill., on January 3, 1953. He preceded her in death on October 6, 2015.

Surviving are two sons, Jeff (Sandy) Johansen of Peoria and Bruce (Lisa) Johansen of Morton; daughter Diane White (Mike Clausen) of Godfrey, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Cole Johnson of Springfield, Ill., Wesley Johnson of Peoria, and Jesse Loercher of Morton.

Wanda taught at Ellsworth High School following her graduation from Illinois State University in 1951. She met her husband, Norman, while he was on leave from the U.S. Navy. After they married, they lived in Virginia and the Key West, Fla. before returning to Champaign, Ill. so Norman could attend the University of Illinois.

Wanda enjoyed gardening, golfing, and traveling with her husband. She especially enjoyed their trips to Puerto Rico, Hawaii and Alberta, Canada.

She was a member of Morton United Methodist Church.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022, at Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Morton. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Hillcrest Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
